I have been a terrible blogger! It has been a very busy summer on and off campus and I have not been able to update as often as I'd like. Now is a great time to plug my Facebook fan page and profile! =) In the meantime I have new directions to pursue, both photographically and personally that I'm very excited about. Stay tuned!
It's been a very busy summer on the Hill, but I wanted to take a moment to show off some images from a new camera mount we got in the office. It's called a GigaPan and it uses my Canon G9 to methodically take hundreds of photos of a scene and then stitch them together in the computer afterwards to produce incredibly detailed panoramas.
Probably one of my favorite new pictures... shot Saturday night following a wedding in Westport, Ky... way up on the Ohio River around 10:30EST. This is exactly how it looked... the stars were visible behind the clouds as twilight set in. Such a cool sight!
Well another season of dance for Meredith is over, concluding with recital over the weekend. Here is the gallery of images from dress rehearsal... enjoy!
I took a quick hike at Shanty Hollow Lake (just north of BG) yesterday with the Bowling Green Hiking Group and had a great time. I had been to the lake several times before to kayak and canoe, but never ventured down the trail. Wow, I was missing out. I can't wait to take the kids!
WKU hosted the Japanese drumming group TAIKOPROJECT this week and they gave a fantastic performance Tuesday night at the Capitol Arts Center. The group, from Los Angeles, has also been seen recently on the Academy Awards show, drumming the music for Slumdog Millionaire.
The Hilltoppers start this year's NCAA tournament tonight against Illinois in Portland, OR. We won the Sun Belt tournament last week and found our course for the tourney on Sunday, then the team loaded a plane set for the West Coast on Tuesday. Good luck guys! I'll see you in Memphis!
Friday night's BG Gallery Hop was great for us at B&J Gallery! We had over 30 people stop by to browse my collection of photographs from across the country and sample some wonderful appetizers by my sister Anne, the now-famous Kentucky Culinary Student of the Year. My good friend Robin displayed my work beautifully and we all just had a great time.
The wheels are turning for another gallery sometime in the future... bigger and better!!!
Over the weekend, I led Connor's Boy Scout troop (I am an Assistant Scoutmaster now) on a chilly camp out in Barren County. We had the opportunity to work on a few requirements the boys needed and even got snowed on Saturday night.
It was neat to watch the sunrise that morning and munch on pancakes on the porch by the fireplace. I am looking forward to several more outings this year and gearing up for some good backpacking trips. So much to do!!
